Ceres: Celestial Legend

On a day that should be filled with cake and joy, Aya Mikage and her twin brother Aki are instead made to spend their birthday at their grandfather's mansion. Rather than a surprise party, they're met with the grim faces of the Mikage clan. There's only one present--and what's in the box will change Aya and Aki's lives forever.

Visions assault Aya, and blood erupts from wounds on Aki's body. Instead of rushing to their aid, the Mikage clan looks upon Aya with disgust. With Aki torn away from her, Aya finds herself staring down the barrel of a gun--with her own father holding it.

With her life suddenly in shambles, Aya doesn't know where to turn, and the answers given to her by her new allies are bitter indeed. Meanwhile, rather than kill Aya, Kagami hopes to study her powers, and the first experiment is staged when Aya is given an unhappy reunion with her mother.

Ceres, the celestial being, awakens and reveals the reason the Mikage want to kill Aya--and it might have something to do with Ceres wanting to destroy the Mikage first! Afterwards, Yuuhi struggles with his feelings, and Aki experiences otherworldly problems of his own.

Despite the warnings, Toya brings Aki to the Aogiri house. While Aya is overjoyed, Ceres is anything but. The reason lies in Aki's awakening memories, and the scars he gained on the night of the twins' sixteenth birthday.

Still lost, with no clear path forward, Aya follows Toya in hopes of finding answers. Instead, Kagami forces her into a locked room so that he can have a little chat with Ceres.

Drawn to another girl at her school, Aya makes a new friend. However, it turns out that the new girl's burning passion for her forbidden love is all too literal, as the first test for Kagami's C-Project is already underway.

Suzumi and Yuuhi deal with family issues, while Aya tries to deal with her own warring heart. The Mikage, however, aren't content to wait, and the C-Project sets its sights on a new test subject.

The Mikage attempt to brainwash Suzumi, and it's up to Yuuhi and Aya to save her. However, protecting her from physical harm is only half the problem. Meanwhile, Aki's problems are just beginning.

A young girl appears at the Aogiri house and asks for a favor--from Ceres. While it seems innocent enough, the circumstances around that favor land Aya in the middle of yet another C-Project experiment.

The C-Project experiment is a success, after a fashion. Several people awaken with celestial power, but only one of them live to tell the tale. Meanwhile, Aki can't tell the difference between himself and his past life.

Toya makes the decision to abandon his past, even as the past takes control over Aki. The two fight to escape the Mikage tower, but only one of them will leave.

Aya makes her choices, both between the two men competing for her, and with how to deal with Aki and Ceres. Meanwhile, Aki is taken beneath the Mikage mansion in order to meet his destiny.

Being close to Aya makes Toya realize how vulnerable he is, forcing him to try and reclaim his memories. Meanwhile, Aki hunts Ceres down, and the confrontation between the two turns violent.

The search for Ceres' robe leads Aya and the others to the coast. Toya instead finds memories he had forgotten, and a life he unknowingly left behind, including a girl who looks a great deal like Aya.

In an effort to destroy Toya, Aki reveals the truth behind Toya's past life. Meanwhile, Miori pursues her ultimate goal of vengeance against Aya.

The C-Project moves into its final phases, and Aki does his part by capturing Aya. Meanwhile, Toya finds his reason to love, and races back to Aya's side in order to pull her from the Mikage's clutches.

To escape the Mikage, Aya and Toya escape back to the coast, and assume what they hope to be a normal life with one another. However, they can't escape their past, particularly not the forgotten memory they both share.

Since they can't have Ceres, the Mikage kidnap Chidori and her brother. Toya and Yuuhi go after her with the help of the Aogiri family, but the results are anything but happy.

After the rescue attempt ends badly, Aya goes directly to the Mikage to ask where Toya is. However, the answer she receives is anything but what she expected--and the one she least wanted.

Ceres learns of the ultimate goal of the C-Project, and witnesses the fruits of its labors--and hers. Then, she reveals the truth behind the myth of the hagaromo legend, and why it isn't as clear as it might seem.

There's a flaw with the celestial descendants of the C-Project, but Shuro Tsukasa isn't about to succumb to it. Instead, she brings down the house with her voice in an all too literal way. Meanwhile, Ceres reveals why the robe is so necessary, and why the C-Project is failing.

Toya's memories return to him, and he recalls everything that he is. As the C-Project comes down around Kagami, Toya and Yuuhi race to save Aya and reunite Ceres with the hagaromo. However, Aki is no longer himself.

Ceres and Mikagi clash in the final confrontation that has been generations in the making. However, it won't be settled without sacrifices.
