Atomic Fracking in Wyoming: The Story of Project Wagon Wheel

After WWII the US government started the Plowshare Program to find peaceful uses for nuclear explosives. Most of the proposals were absurd including a proposal for nuclear stimulation of natural gas fields. In the late sixties and early seventies three nuclear stimulation experiments were carried out in Colorado and New Mexico and a fourth was planned for a small community in rural Wyoming.
