Pinky and Joe bought their home in the shadow of the most beautiful Lancashire hill country. But since moving in, they've tried their hardest to create the garden of their dreams from their oddly shaped, triangular plot – but quickly ran out of ideas.

Writer Ig and college assistant Jo cherished their massive 108ft long garden when they moved into their house 16 years ago – but today it's a very different story. Over grown with weeds and overflowing with detritus, the garden now resembles a junk yard.

Claire and Tim have two boys so do their next door neighbours, Jess and Karl. The couples bonded over the kids. The result? The adjoining back gardens have become one massive playground.
