Fake Patient

Albin is an actor wannabe who works extra as a fake patient at the University Hospital in Umeå. During one session, he is diagnosed with testicular cancer, which puts his future plans on hold. Albin does an unsuccessful audition in Stockholm and cheats on his girlfriend with an agent, Cissi. Back in Umeå, Albin has a panic attack and meets Yvonne, a patient at the hospital.

Albin tries to continue life as normal, does a good audition for a major leading role. He apologizes to Yvonne for yesterday and continues to flirt with Cissi. Albin's roommate Felix and his boyfriend Otto have the apartment to themselves. Albins girlfriend Anita holds a spoken word night, but Albin doesn't show up and continues to lie to her.

Albin refuses to talk to his father Gunnar, so Anita takes matters into her own hands. Albin meets a young boy with cancer in the hospital, helps Yvonne and runs into his former best friend Chippen. Cissi unexpectedly shows up in town and Albin is about to be exposed when he drags Cissi to an underground club.

A year earlier. Albin and Chippen are roommates and they both have acting dreams. They work together at the hospital as a well-oiled make-believe patient duo. Chippen meets Anita at a spoken word night and falls in love with her. The next time, Albin comes along as a "wing man", but it results with Albin and Anita falling for each other.

Albin wakes up at the hospital, Anita and Felix are by his side. The doctor Zoya tells them about a brain tumor and that Albin will have to have emergency surgery. Felix meets Cissi and updates on her the situation. Albin talks to the dying boy, but maybe it's all a dream? Gunnar drives Albin home from the hospital, maybe they'll patch things up?

The cancer treatment continues, but Albin does not want to join Yvonne's support group. Cissi shows up unexpectedly at Albin's birthday and Albin flees to the forest but is finally picked up by Gunnar. They go to Gunnar's house and finally talks to each other.

Albin saves the "fake patient program" thanks to his good acting. Zoya tells Albin to prepare for the worst and he begins to accept his fate. Albin meets Chippen at a bar, but things are still cold between them. Reality and imagination begin to merge, what is really real?

Albin does a screen test for the TV-series in Stockholm and he is asked to fill out a health declaration form. He meets Anita in Umeå but she does not forgive him. Cissi comes to Umeå to celebrate the role that Albin got. They visit the hospital together. Albin hesitates to fill in the health declaration. Should he be honest for once or should he continue to lie?
