Versailles

Louis celebrates victory in the war against Holland and welcomes the defeated Emperor Leopold. Having returned a war hero, Philippe finds life at the palace hollow and makes some drastic changes in his life.

Louis and Leopold both seek to conquer Spain when the King’s health is in decline. Meanwhile, Philippe continues to seek the identity of the Man in the Iron Mask, and Maintenon’s position at the palace is under threat.

Fabien arrests townsfolk in reprisal for the attack on Colbert. Elsewhere, Louis learns the truth about Maintenon, and Philippe believes that there’s a conspiracy surrounding the Man in the Iron Mask.

Ignoring his brother’s doubts, Philippe doggedly pursues his investigation into the Man in the Iron Mask, while Louis is intent on destroying Leopold’s plans.

Louis’ wish to undermine Leopold continues. Meanwhile, things take a turn for Chevalier, and Marie-Thérèse falls ill.
