Vincent, en fransk soldat, der lige er kommet hjem fra tjeneste i en specialdeling i Afghanistan, lider af protraumatisk stresssyndrom. Han bliver ansat som sikkerhedsvagt for Jessie, hustruen til en rig libanesisk forretningsmand i deres luksusvilla "Maryland". Vincent får snart en mærkelig fascination af kvinde, han er ansat til at beskytte, og bliver mere og mere paranoid.
