In French with English subtitles. A doctor oversees the birth of a child. A married businessman falls in love with another woman. A teacher takes her class for a walk along the serene countryside. All of them heartbreakingly unaware of the shadow of occupation looming on the horizon.

In French with English subtitles. People from around the region flock to Villeneuve as the mayor receives word from Germany that his town is now a center for refugees. A young policeman tries to organize relief as the church, the main hub for refugees, becomes painfully overcrowded.

In French with English subtitles. A telephone line is cut in the village school, which now serves as a barracks for the German occupation. Believing it to be sabotage, the German army pressures the local authorities to turn over a suspect.
