It's Ed's birthday and the day starts off with him catching a junkie breaking into the surgery.

Patrick's long-running case with Sean, plus his constant work load, takes its toll on his own mental health and he has a breakdown.

Cathy and Ed attend Mary's funeral. The event gives them a chance to talk about their own grief over the baby. They are reconciled. Back at the clinic, confusion reigns while the doctors are away.
