Newlyweds George Papadapolis and Katherine Calder-Young Papadapolis return from their Greek cruise to find they are the only living guardians of Webster Long

After Webster's first week at school, George and Katherine are shaken to discover they missed Webster's birthday. As they rush to put together a party and gather presents, they are disheartened to learn why Webster didn't mention it was his birthday.

When Webster goes out for the local pee wee football team, Katherine is worried he'll get hurt because of his size. George assures her that no coach would put a kid on a team if he was going to get badly hurt.

After her energetic attempt to share Swan Lake with Webster seems to bore him, Katherine is convinced he doesn't like her. Meanwhile, Webster's best friend Melanie is certain her parents don't love her anymore because of their new baby.

Jerry babysits for Webster when George and Katherine go to a benefit. Webster is convinced that they'll never come home, like his parents.

George and Webster are excited to have their friend Molly as a houseguest. Katherine becomes jealous when Molly turns out to be a fun, attractive young woman.

When Webster finds out that George and Katherine never had a real wedding, he tries to set one up for them.

Katherine becomes worried that she and George are not the right parents for Webster. George knows they are and explains why Travis, Webster's late father, chose them.

Webster tells a lie about being denied a place in his school's talent show, which leads to him doing a national television spot with Ben Vereen.

When budget cuts force Webster's school to slash their arts and sports programs, Katherine and George decide to volunteer as teachers. Unfortunately, Katherine's art class goes over the children's heads, and Webster helps the class cheat on their test.

After Webster's teddy bear goes missing, George and Katherine attempt to show Webster that he can go to sleep by himself.

Webster is excited when he makes friends with a group of nine-year-olds. The excitement doesn't last long when his new friends steal from their local hangout, the Tracadero, and Webster gets all the blame.

Katherine convinces George to go on a game show with her and Webster so she can investigate a charge against the show's host. Unfortunately, Katherine is overzealous about answering the questions and makes George look foolish.

George sets a bad example for Webster by insisting on living with the pain of a leg injury. In turn, Webster thinks George is disappointed in him when he must be admitted to the hospital for tonsillitis.

When Webster decides he wants a baby brother or sister, he tries to figure out how to make one.

Webster goes home with Harry from the Trocadero when no one picks him up after school. George and Katherine panic when they can't find him.

George and Katherine suspect Webster is hiding something and sneak into his room to find out what it is.

George accepts an offer to be an announcer at the neighborhood Special Olympics. Webster meets Daryl, a Special Olympian. Webster's friends tell him that Daryl is a "dummy" and that they won't be friends with him if he hangs out with him.

Webster discovers he has an Uncle Phillip who is a stage performer in a hip new show opening in Chicago. George's misconceptions about Phillip lead him to believe that Phillip should be kept out of Webster's life.

After a series of realizations about his untapped potential, capped off by helping Webster run for school president, Jerry quits and begins work at a health club.

Webster has a recurring nightmare about reading a composition he wrote for school.

It's been a year since Webster came to live with George and Katherine! The couple decides that since they're celebrating their one-year anniversary together, it's the right time to legally adopt Webster.
