Harsh weather threatens to derail Ally's cereal harvest. With the Brewers’ farm under TB restrictions, they attempt to sell some of their herd, and Joanna and John discover a few of their sheep require urgent medical attention.

Ally brings his farm into the 21st century, using state-of-the-art machinery to plant his soya crop. The Brewers anxiously await the results of their dairy herd’s Bovine Tuberculosis tests, and Joanna’s skills are tested when John goes on holiday.

A new pig pen creates drama between the Shimwells and the Dales. Ally races to move a fallen tree from the riverbank, and in order to save money, the Brewers bring in big machinery to feed their herd.

John and Joanna gamble on a new ram and flock of sheep to give them their biggest spring lambing season. Ally hopes his 21st-century investment will deliver a bumper harvest, while Pete and John Brewer battle blazing heat to bale dry bedding straw.
