James has trouble with the trucks one day, but Thomas is there to help. | James bangs the coaches by being too rough, and brings the train to a stop. Will the passengers get home?

James has a bad time with a long train, but gets a little help from Edward. | Gordon looks silly when the signalman forgets and switches him off the main line on to a loop.

Annie and Clarabel think Thomas is very silly when he starts off fast and leaves his guard behind. The guard isn't very pleased either. | Thomas goes fishing.

Cheeky Thomas thinks he's the best. Thomas teases Terence the Tractor about his caterpillar wheels. When Thomas gets stuck in a snowdrift, Thomas sees that Terence's caterpillar wheels are truly splendid. With Bertie the Bus, Thomas challenges him to a great race to see if the rails or the roads are faster. Who will win?

It's trouble for the big tendered engines! Problems arise on the turntables during an especially windy day. When Gordon, James, and Henry decide to go on strike, Sir Topham Hatt brings a new tank engine to the yard. Percy the Small Engine arrives and shows what a useful engine he can be. Meanwhile, the bigger engines are not too happy being shut up at Tidmouth Sheds.

When Percy is forgetful on the main line; he gets quite the surprise as Gordon rushes straight towards him on the track. Percy runs away, preventing an accident. Meanwhile, Henry gets quite the surprise when he learns he needs special coal to run properly. With the proper coal, Henry can go full steam ahead!

Henry is very proud to pull The Flying Kipper. But snow jams a signal down and disaster strikes. | Gordon looks foolish and Henry gets even with naughty boys who drop stones from bridges.

Newcomer Toby the Tram Engine arrives in the yard. | Thomas is stopped by a policeman and Toby comes to the rescue.

James the Red Engine learns that it is wise not to speak rudely to other engines. You never know what will happen next. | Gordon is upset when he has to pull a train of big trucks.

When Thomas tries some mischief and gets in a hole, Gordon has to help him out. | Thomas and friends say thank you to a nice old lady and everyone has a happy Christmas.
