The 2-part film follows Sergey, the recently demobilized young man, who returns to his Moscow neighborhood after two years of military service. Sergei's life is seen through the aspirations of his tightly-knit group of friends, as well as through the very true everyday lives of other Muscovites and Soviet citizens. This film was banned by the Soviet authorities.
