A summer has passed since Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer found out about Mona being "A" and the death of Maya. With the terror over and an alleged murderer now behind bars, the town of Rosewood is slowly healing from old and new wounds.

Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer are on edge with the arrival of a new message from "A." This new player is determined to show the girls that he/she means business.

With Spencer's mom now taking Garrett on as a client, Spencer is sure that there is a reason forcing her. But when she starts questioning, she doesn't so much learn why her mother took the case as she stumbles upon a larger secret.

Some secrets the girls are holding onto should be shared, while others are best kept hidden -- no matter what the cost. The truth can sometimes hurt and the girls must take that into account when deciding to reveal secrets.

Jenna's birthday party seems to be too good to be true and Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer think something might be up -- especially when it turns out that Garrett is getting a pass out of jail to visit his ailing mother on the same night.

After getting a clue from Garrett, Hanna and Spencer set out on their separate missions. Hanna sees a perfect opportunity to catch "A" or to at least see who is helping Garrett out. But her plan starts to unravel, leaving Hanna desperate.

With new key evidence in Alison's murder case, Hanna fears that "A" may be framing her after a visit from Detective Wilden. With paranoia setting in, Aria decides that she has to turn to Mona for answers if she is going to help Hanna.

Emily is struggling to deal not only with the loss of Maya, but the knowledge that someone drugged her. Going to make amends with Paige and trying to explain the drugged flask ends up leading Emily to insight of what she did "that night."

Spencer and Aria find themselves at Noel and Eric Kahn's party in hopes of saving Spencer's college career. What was going to be a quick stop turns into an opportunity for Aria and Spencer to get answers from Jenna.

After learning that Noel and his family's cabin had something to do with "that night," and possibly the disappearance of Maya, the girls work to try and put the pieces together.

Emily's relationship with Paige has been anything but easy, but she feels like things are now going in the right direction. So when Spencer comes to her with a tale about Paige's history with Alison, Emily is not ready to heed her warnings.

Emily is caught in the crossfire as Maya's murderer is revealed and the girls are betrayed by someone close to them.

Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer are looking forward to some good Halloween fun now that the traumatic events with Nate are behind them. But once aboard the Rosewood Ghost Train, the girls are in for much more than just some tricks or treats.

Radley Sanitarium has given Mona a clean bill of health and she is headed back to Rosewood High. With their former tormentor now back in their everyday lives, Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer take very different views of the "new" Mona.

After the shocking events at the school marathon, Aria, Emily and Spencer are more certain than ever that Mona is up to her old tricks. Hanna, still holding out hope for her former friend, is not so sure.

Aria is sidelined by the flu, so Hanna and Emily are on their own to follow up on a new clue.

As "A" continues to play games, the stakes are raised higher as each girl is forced into difficult positions. Aria starts to seriously contemplate her relationship with Ezra as his new family situation continues to eat away at her.
