2004. Christmas Eve in Thailand. Claire and Gabriel are on vacation, madly in love. But the next morning, Claire wakes up alone in bed to the sounds of screaming. It's December 25th and the tsunami is hitting their hotel. Claire survives but Gabriel is lost, his body never found.

Claire doesn't know it yet, but her determination to find Gabriel and get answers about their past will put his enemies, Asgard mercenaries Doug and Jennifer, back on his trail after 15 years.

Claire helps Gabriel approach Birgit, the cyber security chief engineer of the Al Razah research center and an old acquaintance of Claire's from her time working with Hexatom.

Claire has invited the two Canadian "investors"-Doug and Jennifer-and some other expat friends for a romantic dinner in the desert.

As Claire and Gabriel leave their new safe house to go to Al Razah, facial recognition software catches Gabriel's on local CCTV cameras-setting the police on their tracks.

To persuade Claire to turn on Gabriel, Doug and Jennifer reveal Gabriel's duplicity.
