The Girlfriend Experience

Iris relocates to London for a radical reboot. Leaving behind her family and a half-finished degree at a top tier university, she begins a double life: working as a neuro researcher at elusive tech startup, NGM while providing the girlfriend experience for clients at night.

Iris and her co-worker Hiram start working on an AI project that mirrors human emotion. Meanwhile, new clients provided by The V, a high-end escort agency, leave Iris with a wealth of intriguing behavioral data.

Iris gets better at simulating the perfect girlfriend experience for her clients. Simultaneously at NGM, Iris and her co-workers start training the AI model with new simulated sets.

Iris' client relationships seem increasingly uncanny, and advice from Tawny isn't what Iris was hoping for. Her father's illness catches up with Iris in undeniable ways. Efforts to escape this new reality leave Iris feeling progressively exposed.

Iris can't keep her two worlds separate anymore, which comes with unwanted consequences. Her boss at NGM, Christophe, urges Iris to see their AI work in a different light. The neural net still has a long way to go. Iris realizes she's in a position of power, while simultaneously having lost all control.

Buying herself time, Iris escapes the messy leftovers of her double life and spends some time off-grid. Georges, a former client, takes Iris into his world. And so, does Rupert, who takes Iris to an event where sexuality and tech have merged. Reality, however, has a way of catching up.

"Cassie" is back with a vengeance, taking her work to the next level. Iris' secrecy around the experimental project puts a dent in her relationship with co-worker Hiram and their collaboration around Emcee. The people in Iris' life have been keeping things from her, too.

Having her family in town brings up complicated feelings for Iris. Tawny feels bad about how things played out with The V. Iris' interactions with the test subjects become more and more technical. Afraid to confront her own truth, Iris realizes she needs to switch gears with the AI work.

Having lost all sense of perspective, Iris confides in Christophe. He in turn opens up a part of his world, wanting her to see the vast possibilities. Little does Iris know; the encounter will leave her shaken to the core.

Struggling to recover from a sense of utter betrayal, Iris is willing to take a radical leap once again. Bidding farewell to her family, and reconnecting with co-worker Hiram, Iris needs to confront one more person before making a fateful decision: Emcee...
