When her daughter, Amber, fails to return home one evening, Sarah Bailey reunites with husband Ben and tries to portray a united front in the search for her. An act of betrayal by Sarah"s best friend sees the Baileys hit rock bottom, though it may also provide a breakthrough.

In the wake of her betrayal, former gossip columnist Maeve Flynn Dunne sees an opportunity to redeem herself in Sarah"s eyes. She contacts a prisoner who claims to have vital new information about Amber and proceeds to launch her own investigation. However, she may unwittingly be playing a part in a desperate man"s terrible plan.

Electronics-store employee Charlie Huang discovers a phone that belongs to the missing teenager. He would like to help but doesn"t want to alert the police to the fact that he is living in Ireland illegally. What he chooses to do puts him on a collision course with Ben Bailey.

Unlike his wife, Ben Bailey refuses to give up hope that Amber is still alive. Following an encounter with one of her friends, he becomes convinced that his daughter was befriended by an online predator and abducted. This sets him off on a new and very dangerous course.
