Alexis goes back to school and Alex has a hard time letting her go. Ms. Helen is threatened when Carla hires an intern to help out.

Carla and Alex attend his high school reunion, where secrets about both of their pasts are revealed. While Ms. Helen babysits the kids, Kaci becomes Keenan's Cyrano to impress a girl.

Alex becomes extra-supportive of Kaci's school protest on the recycling program. Carla, Gabby and Ms. Helen go to a spiritual spa and get kicked out.

Carla deals with "Mean Moms" when she fills in for Alex on a fundraising committee. The kids try to find a runaway hamster after Alexis is told she can't have a pet.

When Ms. Helen's son, an Afghanistan War veteran, returns home with PTSD, Carla recommends that he undergo therapy. Alex helps Alexis with a school project and ultimately takes over completely.

Ms. Helen and Carla try to convince Ms. Helen's son to seek help for his PTSD. Gabriella meets and falls for Alexis' teacher, whom Alexis also likes.

Carla becomes frustrated when Gabby seems to be helping Alex with writer's block and not her. Kaci does an informational video on how to conserve water that gets 3 hits on the internet. Keenan turns it into an "Agua" video that goes viral.

Alex takes action when a student downgrades him on a rate your professor website, while Carla helps one of her patients, Jentry, overcome an on-air mishap at work that goes viral.

Keenan and Kaci throw a party at their house when Carla, Alex and Alexis go on an overnight school excursion. At the party, a girl comes on to Keenan, wanting to have sex with him and he refuses.

After meeting Kaci and the Reeds, Jacob Matthews, a 14 year-old prodigy, decides to quit College. Alex represents his alma mater at a College Fair.

Kaci's plans to attend a father/daughter dance with Alex are altered when her biological father, Marcus, shows up unexpectedly. Keenan invites two friends over to the house and one of them has a crush on Carla.

Carla and Alex invite some friends over for game night, including Gabby and Mr. Guillory and Ms. Helen and her new beau, but things don't turn out as planned.

When Carla gets a "Save the Date" card from her ex-husband's upcoming wedding, it brings up unresolved issues with him. Alex recommends she go and talk to her therapist. The kids struggle with the request to donate some items to charity.

Alex's parents come to visit and he finds out that his father has been driving his mother crazy since retiring. The Reed kids try to figure out a way to get rid of the corny T-Shirts their grandparents bought them.

Carla gets invited to speak on a relationship panel for a Women Empowering Conference. The other panelist, Dr. Stokes, has very different views on how to get a man. Keenan is chosen to join a popular group at school, the "Fresh Five Fraternity."
