Sawada Takuto struggles to find a job as he nears the end of his college years. At a job interview, he meets Hongo Megumi, a classmate who is bearing similar pressures.

Slowly realizing his body is acting up, Takuto feels useless at his new full-time job. Megumi continues to job hunt and soul search, when suddenly Takuto's friend, Shigeyuki, offers to help her.

Takuto and Megumi make a romantic getaway to a hot spring after Takuto dreadfully learns he has ALS.

After learning about Megumi's father and her family's hardship, Takuto has to decide once and for all to tell or not tell Megumi about his disease.

Takuto musters up the courage to tell a few people about his disease. Meanwhile, Megumi and Shigeyuki's relationship continues to progress as Shigeyuki pushes forward.

Takuto adjusts to life in a wheelchair as Rikuto finally unravels and opens up to his brother.

Since Rikuto moves back in with his parents, Takuto is left living at home by himself. Mamoru confronts Megumi about the situation and asks if she can help.

Megumi strengthens her resolve, while Takuto questions the honesty of his words and actions to himself and others.

Both Takuto and Rikuto discover new goals, as Megumi faces resistance from her mother about her decision to stay by Takuto's side instead of marrying Shigeuki.

Takuto and Megumi take a trip down memory lane, as Takuto is faced with the most difficult decision he will ever have to make.

Takuto digs deep down and speaks at a school in front of his loved ones and peers, about what ALS has taught him about himself, family, love, and life.
