Australia's Oceans

The Indian Ocean may be the smallest and the youngest of the oceans, but it is the most complex. Circling the southern globe, it is home to thousands of diverse species and has a major impact on the world’s climate.

The Pacific Ocean occupies a third of the globe’s surface and is the largest of the world’s oceans. From its depths to its surface and from its temperate waters to it equatorial regions, its diversity continues to astound.

The Southern Ocean comprises the southernmost waters of the world, reaching from Australia to encircle the Antarctic, yet its waters are rich and productive.
