Seo Jung gets stood up at the altar after her fiancé discovers that her father went bankrupt. Meanwhile, Hyun Su is returning home after studying in Europe, and he has an odd encounter with Seo Jung at the bus station. The situation will soon require Jung’s grandfather to seek a bail bondsman.

Seo Jung leaves the city jail, and her grandfather forbids her to see Hyun Su again. This may be complicated after the less fortunate Jung is forced to get a job as a secretary and discovers that her new boss is the man who caused her problems the night before.

Hyun Su makes life miserable for Seo Jung at work, and the new employee thinks her boss is crazy. Things start to change after Jung begins to open up to Su, explaining why she behaves in such a snotty way. Later, Su begins to see his new colleague with different eyes.

Grandpa Man-bok wants to know where Sang-hoon got the 1800 won to pay his bar bill. Man-bok then advises his grandson against borrowing money from his ex-wife. Meanwhile, Joo-hee and her husband discuss going to America, and Jung-kyung tells Jung-in not to trust men.

The Kang family throws a party for mom, where Geum-ja starts to open up to the rest of the group. Meanwhile, the Seo family is miserable. To lighten things up, Jung-in teases her sister about her “non-relationship” with Hyun-soo. Later, Grandpa Man-bok asks Jung-kil to leave, which he objectively obliges.

Sung-joon comes home, and his father competes for control of the Kang family. Jung-kil rudely returns the money to Grandpa by throwing it on the floor. Meanwhile, Jung-in finally learns that Sung-joon has a mistress hiding away in an apartment, which he faithfully denies. Later, Sung-joon gets into a bloody fight with Han-sae.

Grandpa Man Bok's sudden declaration has consequences no one was expecting. Jung Kil tries to fix things between the families. Awash with guilt about her cellphone deception, Jung In decides to tell Hyun Soo the truth about who's been sending those messages, but her sister just may beat her to the punch.

With the truth finally out, Jung In and Hyun Soo navigate a new kind of awkwardness. But she'll have bigger problems to worry about when Jung Kil comes home drunk and belligerent, Geum Ja needs help preparing dinner, and Grandpa Man Bok wants someone to blame for a drain of wasted rice.

Grandpa Man Book has a word with Sung Joon about his stealing. Ji Soo tries her hand at fitting in. Geum Ja tries to find the truth about the "incident," but little does she know that Jung In has been working behind the scenes to fix it. Hyun Soo and Han Sae have an unlikely bonding moment.

Han Sae asks for Hyun Soo's help in reconnecting with Jung In. He seems truly determined to win her back, but does Jung In even want him anymore? With the way her heart seems to skip a beat around a certain other man, her emotions are more complicated than ever.

Jung In defends her sister when she's accused of being a gold digger, but it turns out that Jung Kyung isn't the Seo she should be worried about: Jung Kil has been talking to a lawyer about the house, and the verdict isn't pretty. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Jung Kil is forced to spend several nights in the police station, but true repentance may still be a pipe dream. Ji Soo is tailed by mysterious men from her past. Hyun Soo tries to lift Jung Kyung's spirits, but understanding actually comes from her first real heart-to-heart with Jung In.

Han Sae makes things difficult for Jung In at work. Hyun Soo doesn't take kindly to his attitude, but what he doesn't realize is that Jung In is laboring away on a much larger plan... too bad it ends disastrously when her "surprise date" winds up including his mother!

Hyun Soo may claim that he isn't sure of his feelings for Jung In, but when he decides to personally pay back Han Sae for her engagement ring, his heart is transparent to everyone else. Jung Kil continues making trouble for the family. Jung Kyung and Hyun Soo have an honest discussion.

A fake fight turns into a real argument for Hyun-soo and Jung-in. After making up, the couple struggles to find time for an intimate moment together, but the family keeps interrupting them.

Sung-joon is overprotective of his sister and wants her to set a wedding date. A party is thrown for Jung-kyung's birthday. At the party, Jung-kyung feels jealous over Hyun-soo and Jung-in's relationship.

Sung-joon and Ji-soo spend some quality time together. Geum-ja becomes angry at Jung-kyung and demands to know why she doesn't have feelings for her son even after he has been devoted to Jung-kyung for so long.

Rice wine causes the Kang and Seo families to reveal their true feelings. Jung-in asks Jun-kyung on a date, and Sung-joon and Ji-soo spend time together. Hyun-soo and Jung-in reconcile and are saddened that they have to hide their relationship, but an outing to the public bathhouse causes trouble.

Han-se comes into the house drunk and almost reveals Hyun-soo's and Jung-in's secret relationship. Jung-kil finds the will in the framed picture of the family motto and runs off with it in hand.

Grandpa Man-bok reveals the results of the Chairman’s will irrevocably severs ties between the families, and Han-se becomes excited by the possibilities. Hyun-soo is troubled by the revelation. Jung-in informs Hyun-soo that his father professes that he has not read the will. Ji-soo confronts Sung-joon about their relationship.
