Are You Afraid Of The Dark?

Jill Peterson, 13, loves fairy tales and knows most of her huge collection by heart. Everyone gives her a rough time about her obsession and one night she even wishes she could live in dream land forever. It is the evil land of nightmares, however, where she finds herself and must confront the Sandman. She is forced to outwit him before she is granted her Final Wish--to return home.

The classic Rialto movie theater is about to be shut down despite the tireless efforts of 16 year old Pete Matt. Strange Dr. Vink curiously appears and guarantees the success of the theater with an old black and white horror movie he made decades ago. People become enthralled with this old movie--just as he predicted.

Everybody always dreads starting at a new school and like every other new student, Julie Dufaux is having a tough time. To her horror she finds that her locker is haunted by a ghost from the 1960's. Julie confides in her only new friend, Chris, and together they are determined to get to the bottom of this mystery.

Karin and Billy always play on the empty thirteenth floor of their apartment building. One day they are forbidden access to it because a toy company has rented the space. Soon thereafter Karin receives a mysterious invitation to go to the toy factory to test some new products. After she convinces her brother to go with her, they realize these games are not innocent kids' games.

Sean Hackett loves to write and his single inspiration is the prettiest girl in his class, Jennifer. While rummaging though a part of his house which is under construction, Sean and his friend Billy uncover an old fashioned typewriter. Sean is immediately drawn to it, takes it from its hiding place and starts writing with it.

Keith Saunders, 16, was in a bad car accident which left his leg in a metal brace. He is rather shy and insecure and feels that his life is severely limited due to his bad leg. Above all, the girl he has a crush on doesn't even take him seriously. He decides to visit a magician who gives him a magic potion to make him confident and popular--everything he wants to be.

Charles Pemberton Shilling III has been sent with his baby-sitter to stay with his aunts in their creepy old farmhouse. One night he has a nightmare and wakes up to see a ghost standing outside his bedroom window. The ghost is wearing tattered clothes and cries up to Charles that he is cold. Charles is terrified and becomes even more horrified when the ghost keeps reappearing.

Claire and Andrew Dickens' baby-sitter, Louise, gets lost while driving them home from the amusement park. As they try to make it back to the main road they run out of gas. Their only option is for Louise to go up to the lone house on the road to use the telephone.

Jed Harris and Hughie Downs are pet detectives--tracking down lost pets in the neighborhood. While looking for their latest pet, the end of the trail leads Jed to a dilapidated house where he finds animal collars on the lawn, raw meat in the refrigerator, and a strange man inside. All the clues lead Jed to believe that the strange man in the house is a werewolf.

Mike Buckley is often awakened by nightmares. He is tormented by the same dream in which he relives the tragedy of his best friend, Ricky, who died five years ago. Things start to get stranger, though, when Mike sees Ricky's ghost outside his classroom window in the school yard.

Todd Marker, 13, is having a tough time because his dad recently died and his mother is never at home because she always has to work late. To help out his mother Todd answers an ad to be the assistant of a magician called Shandu. Todd thought it might be a fun job but he finds it difficult--he is not a natural.

Augie and Jasmine Wilson are starting at a new boarding school which has a lot of strange rules. For instance, there are unusual tones which signify different times of the day, Walkman's are prohibited, and all students must eat a white, gooey mixture called "Spunge".

Jack and Kenny Harris have just moved to a new house and they decide to join the kids in the neighborhood for a night game of hide and seek in the graveyard. Before they start the game, the kids tell Jack and Kenny about Old Man Corcoran. He used to be the caretaker but it is now said that he haunts the graveyard.
