Rinko is invited to dinner by her coworker, Hayasaka, and anticipates a confession or proposal. A mysterious man named Key appears and names her and her friends Miss What Ifs because they only complain about what could have been. Rinko's relationship with her coworker, Hayasaka, ends before it can even start, and now even her job is being taken over by a younger female scriptwriter. Meanwhile, Kaori meets her ex, Ryo, who is the guitarist of a popular band. After sleeping with Key, Rinko cannot figure out his intentions, and decides to focus on her work instead. Kaori also sleeps with her ex, Ryo, but finds out he's living with his girlfriend, and decides to forget about him. Koyuki starts seeing Marui, who is married. Kaori knows Ryo, her ex, has a girlfriend, but agrees to be his second girlfriend. Having had bad luck in relationships and at work, Rinko lashes out on them, and the three of them get into a big fight. Their friendship that's lasted from high school is being tested! Just as Rinko is beaten down by the harsh reality, having failed at both her relationships and work, she meets Okuda, a nice, tall, handsome bartender. Rinko thinks it's fate and is quickly drawn to him. Kaori and Koyuki are excited that she might get married. Rinko starts dating Okuda, the bartender. He hints at marriage, but they don't seem to click. Kaori gets serious about marriage and registers with a marriage agency. After her relationship ends, Hayasaka offers Rinko a job for a town's PR drama. She's unenthusiastic at first, but she is motivated by the townspeople's passion. Key feels something when he sees Rinko enjoying her work. Her kiss with Hayasaka at Kitaizu leaves Rinko flustered. Kaori and Koyuki are excited that she might actually get proposed to this time, but Rinko stops herself from getting too happy. Hayasaka and Rinko are now dating and she is elated when he asks her to move in with him. Meanwhile, Key is devastated when his late wife's father tells him to forget about her. Koyuki spends the night at Marui's home when his wife is out, knowing it's not right.
