Harts of The West

After a minor coronary episode, lingerie salesman David Hart decides to try and make his lifelong dream of being a cowboy come true. He makes a deposit on a dude ranch, then finds out that things are not quite as they seem.

After anxiously awaiting the arrival of their stuff from Chicago, the day has come and the Hart children can finally breathe again. There's only one little roadblock: the moving truck that's shown up is inexplicably empty. Meanwhile, Dave hires a new ranch hand, a former rodeo clown, to help break in the wild Mustangs on the Tumbleweed.

When Alison's intimidating powerbroker mother comes to visit, Dave tries to set her up with Jake, touting him as a 'gentleman.' A prairie dog infestation has Dave squirming, and one pesky pest named Ralph really makes him work to rid the Tumbleweed of its rodent problem.

R.O. is zapped by lightning and develops many personalities, one of which is Dave's late father. Meanwhile, Zane disobeys his dad by accompanying some new friends to Dead Man's Leap, where he's challenged to jump across a daunting gap.

Sheriff R.O. looks for clues leading to a suspect in the murder of Garral's most beloved bovine, Irene, who dropped dead while Garral was painting her portrait. Alison gets the urge to work, while Duke's more interested in being a cowboy than an 'A' student.

Marcus sends a troubled inner-city teen, Evan, to stay at the Tumbleweed in order to instill a sense of discipline in him, and he's immediately put to work. As Evan spends time on the ranch, it becomes clear to the Harts that the kid's more misunderstood than miscreant.

As Auggie's 60th birthday approaches, he holds a massive blowout sale at the general store. When Dave questions just how Auggie can afford to sell everything so cheaply, Auggie lets Dave know that his last day's on Thursday. After Auggie reveals that this retirement comes with eternal rest, Dave's surprise turns to shock. Duke trades his baseball glove for sheep shears.

Jake's hotheaded brother, romance writer Ezekiel, returns to Sholo and threatens to kill Jake in a shootout for a decades-long perceived slight. Dave assumes a reluctant R.O.'s role in order to try and salvage the Tyrell bond.

Brimming with unsubstantiated confidence, Dave vows to win the Frontier Day buckboard race. When he meets his partner, the elderly widow of a previous champion, however, Dave's hopes plummet. Irked by Dave's judgement, Alison enters the contest and partners with the unyielding frontier widow herself.

Jake's too old to enter the annual bull riding competition, but don't let Jake know. Dave makes the mistake of expressing worry about Jake's poor back, entangling him in a guilt trip that leads to him entering the competition himself, in Jake's stead. Hoping to reclaim some long-lost acclaim for Sholo, Dave see-saws and mounts barrels in preparation for his bull riding debut.

After already-divorced Rose throws R.O. out of her house, he comes to the Harts begging - or perhaps demanding - a place to stay indefinitely. When R.O. totally overstays his welcome, Alison puts her Western hospitality out to pasture.

The Harts assuredly gather their gear for a family vacation in the Sholo countryside, eager to enjoy a luxury stay in the Wild West. The peaceful adventure that they've planned soon twists into an assortment of fiascos, including a mine-shaft accident, a burgling bear, and turbulent tornadoes.

Dave's former boss in lingerie sales visits Sholo and holds an impromptu photoshoot for next year's calendar. When the Tumbleweed's well runs try, Auggie tries to locate a water source with a dowsing rod, channeling his profound connection with the land. Zane rescues an ensnared donkey and ventures to impress an alluringly insightful lingerie model.

Today's Dave's birthday, and it all kicks off with a stampede of cows to outrun! An impactful blow to a singularly sensitive area leaves Dave reeling over the presence of a cattle driver who hopes to drive his prices up exorbitantly. Once he's had time to regather himself, Dave workshops an idea to run a cattle drive himself, forgoing any need for a third-party driver at all.

On his tenth birthday, Duke embarks on a rite of passage trip through the Wild West with the rugged and resourceful Jake. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Alison worries that she may be pregnant, prompting the Hart parents to ponder the possibility of having another child.
