British actor Joanna Lumley (Absolutely Fabulous) last visited the USSR in 1966 on a modeling job. Almost 50 years later, she finds herself back there on a romantic rail trip from Hong Kong to Moscow via China and Mongolia. It’s a journey of nearly 6,000 miles from east to west taking in a panorama of vistas, people and places – and immense superpowers steeped in rich history and radical change.

Moving on to Moscow, she explores Stalin’s nuclear bunker, meets local models and returns to the place where she was photographed in 1966 – which first inspired her to take this trip.
