All-wheel drive doesn't just stand for safety and traction, but also for a lot of driving pleasure. The Mercedes G-class is the dinosaur amongst all-terrain vehicles. No ascending slope is too steep and no mud hole is too deep for this car. In 2015 Mercedes introduced a revised version, which shows its skill once again. These 4-wheel drive SUVs prove that you don't have to waive sporty driving features:  The Mercedes GLE Coupe is the response by the Stuttgart-based company to the BMW X6. Both of them are similar in their design: SUV in the bottom, Coupe at the top.

All-wheel is not only good for off-road. Topless the drive on four wheels also makes sense : This is proven by Porsche Targa 4S and Audi TTS Roadster. Audi updates the largest model of its Q -Series: the Audi Q7. Thanks to lightweight construction, the current SUV generation weights up to 325 kilograms less than its predecessor, but still has an empty weight of almost two tons. Smaller but also new is the Land Rover Discovery Sport. It is the successor to the second generation of the Freelander.

It’s the end of an era: After 67 years Land Rover ceases the production of its iconic Defender. The all-terrain vehicle is not modern enough and violates EU regulation regarding pedestrian protection. Before the production ends, Land Rover celebrates its Defender with three special editions. Volvo, on the other hand, starts a new era with the XC90, a trailblazer for many more Swedish models.
