Based on the folktale of Cinderella, Stella is a German Jewish student who finds work on a remote, Scottish estate just before the war. When she discovers the owner, the Earl of Rig, is a fascist, it puts her very survival and identity at stake. Lonely and isolated, she falls in love with a handsome poet but all is not what it seems.
