My Sister

Traveling lecturer Gern-wu anxiously awaits to see if he will receive a full time position at a university. His girlfriend, Seung-ju, must attend a groundbreaking ceremony for a resort her father is building.

Gern-wu does not get the university position. Seung-ju's father plans to turn his business over to her. He prefers her to put off marriage and focus on business and warns Gern-wu away from her. Upset by Gern-wu's break up text, Seung-ju goes to his home and sees him and his mother picking up other people's trash for their own use.

After Gern-wu receives expensive birthday gifts, his mother and her friends quiz him about marriage. He becomes angry when his brother mocks Seung-ju and the gifts. Seung-ju prepares to study abroad.

Concerned about Gern-wu's depression, his mother and aunt go to see Seung-ju. Afterwards, they decide to look for other women for Gern-wu. Seung-ju has mixed feeling about leaving the country.

Before Seung-ju can leave the country, her father is reported missing at sea. After some of his belongings are found he is declared dead. Gern-wu tries to move on from Seung-ju by burning the photos of her. Su-a lets Gern-wu believe Seung-ju left the country.

To her dismay, Seung-ju discovers her father's company is bankrupt. The bank refuses to loan her enough money to cover the debts. She finds out her father was also in trouble with a loan shark. After a disastrous meeting, Seung-ju comes face to face with Gern-wu.

Now that Seung-ju is broke, Su-a's mother treats her badly and refuses to do any work. An unhappy Seung-ju takes the bankbook away from the housekeeper. Unable to evict the woman herself, she asks Su-a to do it instead.

While searching the house for valuables, it is discovered that Seung-ju's father changed the house ownership to Su-a's family. Her father is shocked, but her mother views it as her reward for being a servant. She wastes no time putting Seung-ju in her place. Gern-wu learns Seung-ju never went overseas.

Gern-wu can not understand why Seung-ju did not contact him when her father died. She insists her father is still alive. Gern-wu offers his support. His sister Gern-sook drops by her parents' house and takes half of the soup her mother is cooking. Her mother accuses her sister-in-law of taking the soup.

Yeong-ju dreams his father is still alive. Su-a's father has disturbing dreams of him too. Seung-ju finds it very difficult to find a job. Gern-wu gives his bankbook to Seung-ju, embarrassing her. Her pride will not let her accept it.

A friend helps Seung-ju get a job at a beer house. Her brother guesses where she works after she brings home food from the place. Upset to see his sister working as a waitress, he asks Gern-wu to help her. Gern-wu arrives just in time to see Seung-ju harassed by a drunk.

Seung-ju's brother, Yeong-ju hides the changed home ownership paper in the garden. Su-a's mother discovers he hid it and beats him up. A furious Seung-ju finds him covered in bruises. She confronts the woman and is thrown out of the house with her brother.

Seung-ju works in a market place selling jeans. Gern-sae has a change of heart about her. Gern-wu wants a fresh start with Seung-ju. Seung-ju is angry after Su-a ignores her in favor of Gern-wu.

A shocked Gern-wu learns Seung-ju and her brother are living in a motel room. He takes her brother to stay in his aunt spare room. A prideful Seung-ju lashes out at Gern-wu when she finds out.

Su-a discovers her mother had been embezzling money from Seung-ju's family. Her mother begs her to forget she saw the money. Su-a seeks out Seung-ju, intent on returning the money. She changes her mind when she learns Seung-ju is living with Gern-wu's aunt.

Su-a gets on the good side of Gern-wu's mother. She takes the opportunity to bad mouth Seung-ju. Tired of eating instant noodles, Hyeok-ju and Yeong-ju gorge themselves at an expensive restaurant but are unable to pay the bill.

Gern-wu and Seung-ju stay overnight in the country together. Seung-ju told her brothers she was staying with friends. Gern-wu tells his mother he was camping with friends. His mother discovers the lie when Su-a pays her a visit.

After receiving threats from the loan shark, Su-a's mother offers him some of the cash she embezzled. Gern-sae woos the orphaned Yu-sun. Seung-ju finally accepts her father is gone forever. She and her brothers have a memorial service.

Hyeok-ju tries to hide his face while working as a valet. Embarrased, he accepts money from a friend who recognizes him. He treats Gern-sae and Yu-sun to drinks. He later tries to commit suicide by taking a bottle of pills. Su-a's family sells the house and live in an apartment. Her father confronts his wife about the cash.

Gern-suk conspires with her father to push Gern-wu and Seung-ju into marriage. Gern-sae offers to help him plan the proposal. Gern-wu's mother is furious that no one consulted her. Seung-ju becomes a tutor to Jin-a. Jin-a's grandmother asks her to look after her like a sister and gives her money.

Jin-a's grandmother has plans for Seung-ju. She challenges her to sell a box of old jeans. Su-a has the house to herself and invites a few friends over. Rejected by Seung-ju, Gern-wu has too much to drink. His friends leave him with Su-a for the night.

Jin-a's grandmother believes Seung-ju did not use the best of her skills to sell the jeans. She challenges her to make a dress using only a small amount of money. Su-a lets her parents believe Gern-wu has proposed to her. When they see his parents, Su-a gives them proof he stayed the night with her.

Su-a and her mother hatch a plot to make Gern-wu's parents think Su-a is sick because of what happened the night he stayed with her. Seung-ju applies for a job with Min Jun-ki. During the interview, she gives advice on how to appeal to younger customers.

Gern-wu apologizes to Su-a for any that happened that night. Her mother is infuriated when he reaffirms his love for Seung-ju. Gern-sae's mother and aunt learn about his feelings for Seung-ju. But he tells them it is Yu-sun he loves.
