It"s been 10 years since professor J.T. Neumeyer lost his wife, Katherine, in childbirth, but his daughter is growing up well and he"s found love again. Then a mysterious briefcase turns up on Katherine"s grave that contains a crime scene photo and a newspaper clipping—both prophesizing his murder. He"s reassured after contacting a detective, though a strange coincidence soon renews his fears.

J.T. awakes to another unsettling development when he sees that his loaner car matches to the vehicle in the case file. Unnerved, he discusses the list of suspects with Detective Sikorski and enlists friends and family to help analyze the evidence from the briefcase. Noticing that the clipping reports a fatal storm that very day, J.T. sets out to save the purported victim from a falling tree.
