Late Meiji period. The Russo-Japanese war hero Saichi Sugimoto travels through Hokkaido in search of the Ainu people's buried treasure. The clues regarding its location are tattooed across the bodies of 24 prisoners. Sugimoto and Asirpa, an Ainu girl, traverse the vastness of Northern Japan, vying for the treasure in a race against the Japanese Imperial Army and the tattooed prisoners.
