The Adventures of the young Marco Polo

The search for Marco's father is over and the four friends Marco, Shi La, Luigi and bat Fu Fu are staying in Cambaluc. Just then, the woman who ran the orphanage where Shi La grew up ambushes them! She forces the friends to get her an audience with the Khan. In the process, Shi La finds out something amazing: she is not an orphan! Her mother, a famous singer, is alive!

Marco Polo and his friends on the way to Hangzhou where they hope to find Shi La's long-lost mother. Traveling on the same ship are a group of soldiers and a special envoy of the Khan. One of the soldiers has a big secret, which Shi La discovers this by accident. But the special envoy is also not who he pretends to be.

Marco, Shi La, Luigi and Fu Fu arrive in the city of Hangzhou. But as soon as they set foot on the city streets they are cornered by a gang called "the Phoenixes". The Phoenixes demand taxes for everything and anything - and they are not the only ones. Another gang, "the Lions", claim that they are the governors official tax collectors.

Oh no! Shi La's mother left Hangzhou long ago and traveled to the distant island of Java. On their way, our heroes get stranded in Ha Long Bay. And as if this weren't bad enough, a group of bandits is terrorizing the poor villagers there! Marco and his friends decide to help. Their plan: a huge dragon shall scare off the bandits!

In the Champa Kingdom Marco and his friends meet a young gold miner, Niong, who left his family to make a fortune. But there is no wealth to be found in the mining town - only hunger and despair. Yet at the same time the family badly needs his help on their rice farm. Luckily, Marco has a plan! Will his idea placate the grumpy gold miners?

Marco, Shi La, Luigi and bat Fu Fu reach the temple city of Angkor Wat. There they meet two boys who are supposed to follow in their fathers' footsteps. The problem: They have no talent for what their fathers want them to learn! Instead they have all the skills needed for the other's occupation. It calls for our heroes' help!

The island of Jave is in a panic! The great mountain has been angered and it is rumbling dangerously. Still, our heroes need to get to the king's palace, because that is where Shi La's mother is said to be. Then the king wants to make Shi La his new court singer. She tries her best - and miraculously, the volcano does quiet.

Shi La's long-lost mother is in Malacca! But just before Marco, Shi La, Luigi and Fu Fu reach the city they are attacked by pirates! The Orang Laut, brave sea nomads, save our heroes just in time, but the ship is badly damaged. The Orang Laut girl Cita offers her help. All on her own she brings Marco and his friends to Malacca with her small boat.

A dead calm. There is no wind and the ship isn't moving an inch. Luigi constructs a "wind-maker" and creates a pleasant breeze with Fu Fu's help, which gives Marco a brilliant idea. What if they could make their own wind to move the ship?! Everyone is optimistic - until they glance at the sky. Dark clouds are gathering. And then pirates attack!

Incredible! The King of Burma has prohibited all ships from leaving the harbor. The reason: a valuable relic, the Buddha's Tooth, has been stolen! Our heroes' ship is only allowed to leave if Marco and his friends manage to find the relic. But where are they supposed to start? Who would even steal a tooth?!

Finally - the Buddha's Tooth has been found! Marco, Shi La and Luigi want to return the sacred relic to its rightful owner: the King of Ceylon. But no sooner do the friends arrive than the Tooth is stolen from them again! Together with the boy Pamu and his elephants they chase after the thieves - through the jungle on elephant back!

Marco, Shi La, Luigi and Fu Fu continue their journey in search of Shi La's mother. At the Malabar Coast, which is famous for its pearl divers, they make friends with a young pearl diver named Vari and her brothers. The siblings must win a diving competition to gain diving rights to the royal waters. Otherwise greedy Daman will take all the pearls!

Marco, Shi La, and Luigi are broke. Without money to continue their journey, they are stranded in Delhi! But the three have an idea: they'll try becoming street performers! Their special attractions: walking on stilts, juggling, and charming a snake. Our heroes really try - but that's just no good. Their performance ends in total chaos.

On their search for Shi La's mother, Marco, Shi La, Luigi and Fu Fu are traveling through Gujarat with an elephant caravan. A mishap causes one of the elephants to create total chaos at a market. Seven precious saris that Sunna's family has woven for the King are trampled into the dirt! They are ruined and Sunna is desperate. Of course Marco, Shi La and Luigi want to help!

Marco and his friends land in the city of Qalhat, Oman. Right on the pier a wild stallion comes galloping towards them. Only Shi La can calm him down. Hamal, the horse's owner, is rather scared of horses! In addition he has to win a race, if he doesn't want to lose the stallion to his greedy neighbor. Shi La becomes a jockey but then Hamal has to take over!

Houses that seem to scrape the sky - that is something Marco, Shi La and Luigi have never seen before! In Shibam, Jemen, they are amazed by the very first high-rise buildings of all time. On a horse, that they won in a race, Marco, Shi La and Luigi are chased over the rooftops of Shibam by a group of Beduins.

Marco, Shi La and Luigi are caught in a sandstorm in the Jordanian desert. They save the nomad girl Najwa from getting lost in the storm and learn that her family is stuck in an oasis because her grandfather is too ill to travel. And the oasis is drying up! Of course our heroes want to help.

Marco, Shi La, Luigi and Fu Fu arrive at the Gulf of Aqaba and meet the young sponge diver Faris. Diving in these waters has become quite dangerous recently: sharks have appeared at the coral reef! Did Abbas, a boy from the village, lure them here on purpose? Only when Abbas himself is attacked by a shark does he realize what he has done.

After many days of traveling through sand, sand and still more sand, Marco, Shi La and Luigi are getting on each other's nerves. Shi La can't wait to finally meet her mother in Cairo and tries to hurry the boys along. The friends end up squabbling! Shi La sets off on her own and lands in the deepest, darkest dungeon.

Marco and his friends are about to set up their camp in the Valley of the Kings when calls disrupt the silence. The girl Mejay and her brother are chasing a thief who raided one of the tombs! Our heroes try to stop the thief, but he escapes and drops a stone tablet as he runs away. The inscription gives directions to the grave of Pharaoh Tutankhamun!

Herding cats would be easier than herding the crazy goats that Kaldi has to deal with! In the Kaffa region in Africa, the boy is close to despair trying to capture his goats. Marco, Shi La, Luigi and Fu Fu try to help him and want to find out why the goats are acting so crazy. Along the way they invent a new beverage and help Kaldi get an apprenticeship with the wise natural scientist Amaniel.

Marco, Shi La and Luigi have got lost somewhere in the African savannah. Luckily they meet the famous map maker Al-Idrisi! He wants to climb the Kilimanjaro to prove that the earth is round, but he needs assistance with the ascent because he is afraid of altitude sickness. Of course Marco, Shi La and Luigi want to help!

Our heroes are traveling through the jungle close to Lake Malawi when a boy Jamba bursts out of the undergrowth - followed by an angry rhino! He tried to catch the beast to prove that he is just as brave as his father ... but it didn't work. His father is deeply disappointed. But then Jamba's little sister is kidnapped by big, dangerous monkeys!

It is said that King Solomon's Mines hold incredible treasures. They are rumored to be somewhere along the Zambezi River, which is where Marco, Shi La and Luigi are right now. Just then they meet an old acquaintance: Raffuzio, a greedy merchant from! Now Raffuzio claims to be a professor in pursuit of knowledge, not riches. Marco doesn't believe a word he says.
