After losing his family because of a false news report, the 14 year old Ha-myung (Nam Da-reum) almost loses his life, but gets rescued and adopted by an old man(Byun Hee-bong).

After a strange fate intertwined Dal-po (Lee Jong-suk) and In-ha (Park Shin-hye), the uncle/niece duo are now in their senior year of high school. Dal-po is trying his best to live as the son of the scruffy-haired, rubber shoed father, Gong-pil. However, the secret ill-fated relationship between Jin-kyung and Dal-po creates many arguments between Dal-po and In-ha in their love-hate relationship.

It is 2013 in Seoul, 8 years later. In-ha's family left Hyang-ri Island and relocated themselves to Seoul. After In-ha decided to become a TV journalist, she continues to struggle in becoming a real journalist for 3 years because of her Pinocchio Syndrome. She finally gets an interview at her mom's workplace, MSC station, and gets excited to meet her mother for the first time in 13 years.

After In-ha decides to quit trying to become a reporter, Dal-po reminisces his meeting with Cha-ok(Jin Kyung) and decides to try and become a reporter. Dal-po gives In-ha determination to try at it again.

Dal-po hears the news of his father's (Jung In-gi) death during the YGN interviews, and decides to retrieve his father's body at the police station.

After Dal-po found out how In-ha became an intern reporter at MSC through her mom, he acts even colder towards her. Not knowing Dal-po feelings, In-ha tries to compromise to herself with the fact that she became rival reporters.

Dal-po of YGN and In-ha of MSC both argue that their version of the diet death case is exclusive. Which one will be the real one? Meanwhile, In-ha keeps avoiding Dal-po, and ends up becoming hurt by In-ha and her actions...

Dal-po starts looking for clues for the missing Moon Duk-soo, the person that wrongly accused his innocent father 13 years ago.

In-ha and Bum-jo gets the exclusive footage and story to report on Jae-myung saving the middle school student's life. In-ha gets to interview the injured Jae-myung, and during the interview, he recognizes In-ha to be Newsanchor Cha-ok's daughter. Dal-po witnesses the scene, and out of fear for putting In-ha in danger, pleads with her to not get involved any further with his older brother...

In-ha is in shock after she finds out that Dal-po is Jae-myung's little brother and is connected to her mother in a terrible way. Dal-po comforts In-ha and promises to not give up the name "Dal-po." Dal-po decides to hide the fact that his brother is a murderer in order to protect In-ha and Jae-myung... and he slowly gets more drunk from the happiness that lie brought...

Jae-myung is in shock after Dal-po tells him that he's actually his little brother, Ki Ha-myung. Jae-myung confesses that he's a murderer, and urges Dal-po to live on as Choi Dal-po, not Ki Ha-myung. Bum-jo finds out that Jae-myung is a dangerous individual, and as he's about to investigate more into Jae-myung, In-ha firmly warns him not to do so...

In order to execute Jae-myung's revenge, Dal-po decides to start his life under the name, Ki Ha-myung. While Jae-myung is preparing for his live interview with Cha-ok, Ha-myung is also preparing the news report that Jae-myung requested. Meanwhile, In-ha wants to comfort Dal-po because he's suffering from his brother...

Ha-myung finds out that Cha-ok didn't report the news after checking the death certificate, so he collects information with the thought to end Cha-ok's career and end his revenge.

The conflict between Ha-myung and Bum-jo becomes heated because of the coverage on Bum-jo Department Store. Bum-jo's mother (Kim Hae-sook) finds out about it, and takes responsibility for everything and cooperates to the coverge. However, In-ha becomes suspicious of his mother because she's too cooperative...

Ha-myung and In-ha team up to find out the real cause of the fire at the waste disposal plant in order to save his friend, Chan-soo (Lee Joo-seung) from being wrongly accused. Ha-myung vows to not make Chan-soo a victim of media manipulation, as it was 13 years ago with his family.

There's a weird vibe in the air when Ha-myung takes In-ha to his house to fix up her legs. Meanwhile, Ha-myung and In-ha finds evidence from the black box that could change the flow of the public opinion, yet Cha-ok just scoffs at the two, and they become increasingly disturbed by it...

In-ha goes to Cha-ok and vents out her rage and disappointment after she finds out it was under Bum-jo's mother's orders to give the news about Ha-myung's father in such negative light. In-ha tells her that she'll blow the whistle by giving all this info to Ha-myung of YGN, and Cha-ok tells her how she also almost made the same decision 14 years ago...

As Gyo-dong becomes increasingly nervous about how Ha-myung returned the cellphone and the contents of the text, Ha-myung tells him that there is another informant. In-ha returned to the company to report on the connection between Cha-ok and Chairwoman Rosa Park, but all gets denied. Cha-ok hears of this and orders Captain Gong-joo (Kim Kwang-kyu) to privately investigate the issue.

Cha-ok tells the police that she and Chairwoman Park has been manipulating the media since 14 years ago. Chairwoman Park tries to use different methods to avoid police investigation, so Cha-ok tells In-ha and Ha-myung to keep close watch so that she can't get away from the police.

When Bum-jo decides to take the fall for the crime, Chairwoman Park has no choice but to report to the police. Ha-myung and In-ha gets questions prepared to ask Chairwoman Park.
