On 13th March, 1989, a sun storm wreaked havoc in Canada, causing widespread power cuts across Quebec, with many people left in darkness for days. A solar storm is a disturbance on the Sun, which can emanate outward across the heliosphere, affecting the entire Solar System. What are these storms caused by? Can we predict them?
