One of the longest stand offs in American history begins when a raid on a religious cult in Waco, Texas, goes wrong. FBI negotiators attempt to secure the release of over a hundred people, many of them women and children, from inside a compound controlled by David Koresh. With negotiations halting, the FBI attempts the use of tear gas with catastrophic consequences.
