Dae Gil and his companions successfully locate a runaway slave family and turn them in for profit, but Dae Gil later has a change of heart and helps the woman and child escape rape and torture. Dae Gil relives his horrific past and remembers both the pain of longing and the thirst for revenge.

Dae-Gil is tricked by his former mentor, but saved from his own rage by his companions when he tries to return the favor. The companions unknowingly hunt the man to whom Dae-Gil owes his life as Un-nyun, now Kim Hye-Won, draws ever closer to being forced into marriage.

Lee Dae Gil and Song Tae Ha's fight is interrupted when Chun Ji Ho's men attack them both. With his sword, Choi persuades Ji Ho to stop the attack. Despite an arrow wound, Tae Ha rescues Un Nyun from attackers. Dae Gil is the first target of the slave rebellion.

Dae Gil is only grazed by the shot. Tae Ha remembers the deaths of his wife and child. Chul Woong is imprisoned for failing to prevent the slave escape. Dae Gil must kill or capture Tae Ha or forfeit his own life. Tae Ha shields Un Nyun from Dae Gil's arrows.

Tae Ha escapes from Dae Gil, taking Un Nyun with him. Disease ravages Jeju Island threatening the late Crown Prince's family. Un Nyun recalls how her brother murdered Dae Gil's family and she watched as a burning house collapsed on Dae Gil. Dae Gil closes in on Tae Ha.

Dae Gil discovers how Tae Ha became a slave. At Lee Gyeong Shik's bidding, Chul Woong murders Im Yeong Ho. Un Nyun reveals to Tae Ha her real name of Kim Hye Won. Tae Ha battles Chul Woong, Dae Gil and Choi at the same time.

Dae Gil realizes the woman he stabbed was Un Nyun. Baek Ho thwarts Yoon Ji's assassination attempt on Un Nyun. Un Nyun sends a message to her brother telling him Tae Ha is her husband. Sul Hwa tries to force herself back into prostitution before being saved by Dae Gil.

Sul Hwa is forced to leave the group after selling their horses and spending the money. Tae Ha and Un Nyun take refuge with a former superior, Shin Jang Goon. Chul Woong kills Jang Goon while Tae Ha and Un Nyun escape. Baek Ho is ordered to kill Dae Gil.

Tae Ha kills the assassin Yoon Ji. Baek Ho is killed while attacking Dae Gil. Tae Ha and Un Nyun find passage to JeJu Island. Constable Kwok rescues the young prince from Chul Woong. Chul Woong discovers the secret group protecting the prince. Dae Gil finally confronts the man who murdered his family.

Dae Gil learns the man who killed his father is really his half brother. Tae Ha defeats Chul Woong but refuses to kill him. Tae Ha and Un Nyun share a kiss. Dae Gil is devastated to learn Tae Ha and Un Nyun are married.

Dae Gil mourns his lost chance with Un Nyun. Tae Ha, Kwok and Un Nyun carry the prince to safety. Dae Gil is reunited with his friends. Tae Ha is reunited with his enslaved soldiers.

King Injo is reassured by Minister Lee that the murder of his son and grandsons is proceeding as planned. The soldiers meet with their civilian co-conspirators. Chul Woong finds no comfort at home. Dae Gil finds Un Nyun just as she and Tae Ha are to be married for real.

Dae Gil mistakes the young prince for Un Nyun's son and leaves without interrupting the marriage ceremony. Chun Ji Ho vows revenge on Chul Woong. The Qing emissary demands the prince be raised as his son. Chun Ji Ho torments Chul Woong's wife. Un Nyun realizes Dae Gil is alive after she marries.

Un Nyun is devastated to realize she can never be with Dae Gil. The rebellion plans progress. The slaves are successful in their assault. Wang Son and Choi run afoul of Chul Woong. Dae Gil attempts to send Sul Hwa away.

Dae Gil arrives too late to save Wang Son and Choi. The slaves make an unlikely ally. Believing Tae Ha responsible for the death of his friends, Dae Gil plans revenge. Chul Woong kills the conspirators. Dae Gil confronts Un Nyun furious that she has married the man who killed his friends.

Unnyeon is pained when she sees that Taeha and Daegil are continuing their previous fight; seeing this, they continue in a different location. After the conclusion of the fight, both men are captured and await Chul Woong who is planning to interrogate them personally.

Chul Woong is pressured to place both Taeha and Daegil in jail to await their execution the very next day. As the noble assassinations continue to intensify, a large search is conducted in the countryside for Unnyeon who is still traveling with Won Son.

Chun Hi Jo and the Chinese envoy successfully rescue Daegil from the brink of death, but Chun Hi Jo is wounded in the process. Later, Taeha and Daegil argue about who gets to save Unnyeon, who was captured by the police.

The police move in to arrest Unnyeon, realizing her family has slave roots, but she is saved by Daegil and Taeha. After a skirmish, Daegil takes Won Son and flees, advising Unnyeon to escape to the mountains for safety. After reuniting, the group is surrounded by mountain villagers.

After the emotional reunion of Won Son, General Choi, and Daegil, it is discovered that the revolution will likely happen very soon. Taeha corners Daegil and tells him that he will leave immediately for his own reasons, and orders him to protect both Unnyeon and Won Son.

Han Seom gets killed and Taeha stumbles across the body; with Chul Woong in close pursuit, the two men hurriedly dispose of the corpse and borrow some horses for their escape. Sulhwa and Unnyeon have a heart to heart moment.

In a race against the clock, the Qing emperor sends his very own soldier to the tiny village where the Crown Prince is being kept. The emperor's soldiers, have been ordered to bring back the Crown Prince as quickly and safely as possible. A lot is at steak in this mission should it fail.

Dae-gil and Tae-har are outlaws from the capital. The capital wants both men captured, but alive, meaning their days are numbered. They both try to find a way to escape, and make it back to the village. Their goal is to bring the Crown Prince, and the Qing Emperor with them.

Eop-bok receives a great shock when he discovers that the leader of their revolution regime used them in a scheme. He helped the Prime Minister get ride of people that were offensive or bothersome to the Minister. Eop-bok feels betrayed by the leader's deceit and dealings. Can Eop-bok trust him?
