Setting off from Panama City, the remaining four teams take to the Caribbean Sea, but there are complications when a state of emergency is declared at their next checkpoint, and they are forced to change routes mid-race and head to Villavieja, Colombia.

As the race approaches the halfway mark, the four teams battle the extreme altitudes of Peru when they head to Puno, a city on the edge of the highest and largest lake in South America, Lake Titicaca.

To reach the next checkpoint in Cafayate, Argentina, the four teams must choose to travel through either Bolivia or Chile. But an unstable political climate in both countries puts everyone's journeys at risk, and emotions are pushed to breaking point.
6. Cafayate to Ilhla Grande

The teams must travel 3,600 km east from Cafayate, Argentina, to the next checkpoint on the island of Ilhla Grande, Brazil, while dealing with an ever-dwindling budget and contending with a brand new language.

With two teams at the checkpoint in Brazil, the remaining teams are engaged in a frantic race to avoid finishing the leg in last place. Depleted budgets come into sharp focus as the teams head to the next checkpoint in Mendoza, Argentina.

8. Mendoza to Ushuaia
After 21,000 kilometres, two continents and 17 countries, the teams embark on the final leg of their epic journey to the finish line of Ushuaia, Argentina, and the racers are rocked by the departure of one team from the race.
