1989: Evandro dreams of escaping the favela where he grew up in Rio de Janeiro to become a successful businessman. But when his twin brother, Zeca, is killed by police after involving himself in the drug game, Evandro's ambitions take a 180, leading him to seek vengeance and power in the dangerous world of drug trafficking.

Evandro enters the drug game with his best friend, Afonso, as his right-hand man. But when Afonso skims off their earnings, he's marked a thief and has a price put on his end. Trying to keep Afonso alive, Evandro crosses path with Morello, a wily and self-destructive federal officer.

As Evandro applies intelligence and ingenuity to his new business, he quickly makes enemies within his own criminal ranks. After Evandro outsmarts a sting op set by police chief Bruninho, Morello begins to size up his imposing opponent.

After evading Bruninho's sting op, Evandro becomes the top dealer in the favela. Observing Evandro's rise in the drug game, Morello mounts an operation to prevent drugs and guns from arriving to the favela. In the middle of a shootout, Arlete recruits a possibly ally with a badge.

In Paraguay, Evandro orchestrates a sophisticated plan to cut off his rivals and improve his drug trafficking routes. Along the way, he discovers the purest cocaine on the market: White Gold. Meanwhile, Morello employs unconventional methods to track Evandro, bringing him closer to his target.

Morello's operation to bring down Evandro is a bust, leaving one civilian dead and Morello suspended from the force. As Evandro's business in the favela grows, the market demands White Gold from Bolivia. With Evandro's criminal business firing on all cylinders, his family is left vulnerable, especially his mother, Arlete.

Back on the force, Morello launches an operation in the favela, which causes Arlete to be kidnapped by Britto. Certain that Morello is behind his mother's kidnapping, Evandro threatens Morello's family, leading him to undertake a daring attack on the federal police that will rock the fate of all involved.

Britto's violent death rocks the favela. In pursuit of Evandro, Morello must leave the hunt aside for a family emergency. As Evandro's circle of people he trusts grows smaller, he welcomes in Charles, a French photographer who, while capturing daily life in the favela, will change Evandro's life through his work.

Charles death reverberates around the world, giving Morello carte blanche to hunt down Evandro. Arlete, Geise, and Aírton are forcibly removed from the favela. Evandro makes for Bolivia, where he’ll have to deal with the Urquiza brothers and a pursuing Morello.

Evandro tries to set up shop in Bolivia with the help of the Urquiza brothers. In an off-the-books operation, Morello finally captures Evandro. Detained in Bangu, Evandro’s visited by his mother, who finally knows the truth about Zeca’s murder. While Bruninho Bagda and Salvador orchestrate an uprising, Evandro is visited by an old friend who surfaces as a possible ally that could keep him alive.
