Shine or Go Crazy

While on a mission for his father, Wang So is kidnapped by Shin Yool, who must use Wang So as a stand-in husband to avoid marrying a local brute.

Wang So travels to Goryeo to find her temporary husband. Wang So, fulfilling the last wishes of his father, marries prominent Princess Hwang Bo Yeo Won and sets off to find his father's assassins.

Wang So uncovers the secret behind the murder of his father and begins moving against those who wronged his family. His brother Taejo Wang Gun attempts to find out who is punishing their father's killers.

Wang So attempts to discover the secret behind his drinking companion Gae Bong and whether or not he can help his campaign to avenge his father, while Jung Jong attempts to assert his weak authority.

Wang So goes undercover at Jung Hae Sang Dan in order to find a key piece of evidence for his quest, but first he must prove he can put in an honest day of work.

As Wang So's time at Jung Hae Sang Dan comes to a close, he finds himself one step closer to solving his mystery. Meanwhile, a competition among the princes is to be arranged, in order to name a new Crown Prince.

Wang So finds out he is not the only one searching for the source of the Chung Dong mirror shard. Gae Bong must come to terms with her feelings for So.

When Wang Wook escorts Shin Yool to a temple where he thinks Yool's mother may have lived, they get caught up in a battle between the Jo Eui Sun and Wang Shik Ryum's men.

Wang So is disabled while the long-awaited Prince Battle begins. Wang Shik Ryum is determined to overthrow the Crown Prince and name his own successor to the throne.

Wang So now has to deal with the aftermath of the Prince Battle, when Jung Jong, in his weakened state, suspects every individual involved for conspiring against him.

Shin Yool is forced to admit to Wang So that Gae Bong is a character, and she is really a woman. Wang Shik Ryum tries to spin his loss at the Princes' Battle in a way that casts suspicion on Wang So's intent.

In an attempt to solidify her power, Princess Yeo Won informs the Empress Dowager that Wang So never consummated their marriage. Shin Yool is forbidden from seeing Wang So again.

Shin Yool makes the connection that the Crown Prince has been poisoned. After learning of this, Wang So sets out to find the culprit and the cure.

Wang So reveals to the Crown Prince that he is the leader of the Jo Eui Sun. Wang Wook and Princess Yeo Won realize they have two different goals for their ascensions to power.

A cure for the Crown Prince's poisoning has been identified, but it lies in the hands of one of Wang So's enemies.

Princess Yeo Won has partnered up with Wang Shik Ryum to create false documentation that will rip Jang Hae Sang Dan out of Shin Yool's grasp.

Having lost Jang Hae Sang Dan, Shin Yool begins the rebuilding process. Wang So looks back to his ancestor to figure out his path.

Wang So has recovered the bronze mirror pieces, but when to use them is as critical as obtaining them was. Princess Yeo concocts a pill that might be a temporary remedy for the King's poisoning.

Before the King can reveal the Ho Juk plot, Wang Shik Ryum reveals that Prince So was illegally married.

Wang So and Shin Yool are put on trial, with execution looming over their heads.

Wang So is forced to join a work party as part of the western expansion, and Shin Yool prepares for her new life with her new man.

Sewon spills his true feelings to Princess Yeo Won, and Wang So moves the Jo Eui Sun into position to investigate the western expansion construction efforts.

Motivated to fight against the corruption that he sees in the west, Wang So returns to take down Wang Shik Ryum. His plans are waylaid when he learns that Shin Yool was attacked.

Freshly appointed king, Wang So confronts Wang Shik Ryum in a final battle.
