Bruno Stroszek, a hapless hard-drinking busker in Berlin, falls for Eva, a sex worker who’s in trouble with local thugs. With nothing to lose, they emigrate to Wisconsin with their neighbor Scheitz. But after a customs agent confiscates his cherished pet bird, Beo, Stroszek begins a downward spiral.
