Testimonials of survivors shines light on the reasons why many men became soldiers in the first place. Some did it simply to find work, others did it to avoid being forced into the front lines due to drafting. Either way, It was the first step leading to a rough future.

In the course of battle, many allied troops are being forced to surrender. As if that wasn't humiliating enough, they were being sent to camps, surrounded by barbed wire, unaware of the horrors that awaited them.

As the war comes to an end, there are over 300,000 prisoners. But their freedom will not be simply granted. They must now journey through harsh landscapes and a bitter winter in order to get home.
