Tao Shu

After Tao Shu gets caught telling a lie, nobody believes him when he sees a scary goblin living in the well. So when Mama needs well water and sends poor Tao Shu to get some, he has a problem.

Tao Shu would rather go out and play instead of taking spelling lessons from Mama. As he dramatically feigns a terrible headache to wriggle his way out, Lingling recruits him for a rescue mission.

While playing hide-and-seek with Lingling in the forest, Tao Shu comes across a magical paintbrush that makes everything it paints become real! The excited Tao Shu paints himself presents and sweets.

A thunderstorm causes the roof to leak. Papa wants to fix it, but Mama sends for a carpenter and meets the very illustrious Lu Ban. The two of them, they wreck the roof instead of fixing it.

Shen Tu the giant has lost his magic hammer and cannot go home. When he sits in the forest and cries rivers, he scares everybody with his size. Papa gets everyone to help look for the magic hammer

Monk Chan, a customer keeps coming to the teahouse but never has any money. Instead of getting angry, Papa welcomes him. Monk Chan teaches Tao Shu that the kind receive more than they give.

Tao Shu rescues a trapped monkey and ends up acquiring a troop of monkey friends! Tao Shu drives Hama away. When the monkeys finally leave him, Tao Shu realizes that Hama is his true friend.

During the Chinese New Year, Papa gets upset because something is eating the tealeaves in the plantation. Old Man Yu tells everyone it is Nian, the ferocious New Year monster.

Tao Shu cannot stand it when Lingling follows him. He gets angry. Mama tells Tao Shu that if he does not get mad with Lingling for one whole day, she will make his favorite red bean soup.

While playing in the forest one day, Lingling picks a bunch of pretty red flowers. Unfortunately, these flowers are magical and make anyone who smells them fall asleep for ten days!
