Badminton team member Mizushima Ryo was faced with a choice of schools. He dreamed of attending Yokohama Minato High School with his favorite player, Yusa Kento, but he gave it up because he thought it was impossible and went to Enayama High School with Shizuo and Hiroto.But one day, Yokohama Minato's badminton coach, Ebihara, comes for him. At 15, what choice does he make?

Ryo agrees to study in Yokohama Minato. With Ebihara's help, Ryo participates in the team's practices before enrollment, which makes him both excited and nervous. Ryo meets his idol Yusa but finds Yusa is not what he pictured and is difficult. But Ryo has no time to feel surprised. His practices at Yokohama Minato with students recruited by Ebihara from other schools start in no time.

Spring comes, and it's sunny. Ryo's new life at Yokohama Minato finally kicks off. In addition to those who Ryo practiced with before, many new students join the badminton team. But with its goal of winning the world championship, the training is too strict for students who just want to have fun, and some think they can not balance their schoolwork with it. So, new members leave one by one.

The matches held by the team to select players for the Inter-High Competition are coming. Sakaki and his fellows are unhappy about their positions. Yusa is always domineering, and the first-years don't even have their own lockers. So they want to grab this opportunity. Even if they don't win, they can still impress others and demand better conditions.The matches which unite the first-years begins!

The final match between Matsuda and Ryo begins. No matter where Matsuda aims his shots, Ryo tenaciously returns them. Matsuda panics and abandons his calm style of play and instead hits back with increased force. Other team members who have finished their matches are attracted by this fierce match. Who will be the winner between these two? And what will be the final results of the ranking matches?

Yokohama Minato made it to the prefectural tryouts. The singles matches begin first. Yokokawa loses to Hojo High School's Okazaki, but Yusa avenges him. Later, in doubles, the team meets Hojo High School again. The twins' opponents are Okazaki and Arimura. At the start, the twins get a leg up, but suddenly the situation changes. Overwhelmed by Okazaki's shooting, Yoji feels unprecedented pressure.

The practice match between the school and Saitama Futaba Academy, five-time Inter-High champions, begins. But their main force doesn't come. Yokohama Minato's players realize they are underrated and are going to prove themselves. However, they suffer a tough loss and there is a wide gap apparently. One of their opponents named Date even defeats Hongou and seems to have got an issue with Yusa.

The first term is over and summer vacation starts tomorrow. Ryo is lectured by Ebihara and his parents for his poor grades. Not wanting to quit playing badminton, Ryo studies extremely hard and even is still doing his work the night before the Inter-High. He tries to catch up, but he falls asleep at his desk. When he wakes up the next morning, he gets chills. That's not good. He's caught a cold.

The torturing training camp begins. Ryo is going to go through it with his persistence. As Ebihara taught him, he watches and thinks during the training. At the end of the first day, Ryo is doing his laundry with his mind occupied by Yusa and other seniors. It impresses him that they look fine even after the exhausting training. Akira comes in now and tells Ryo something interesting about Yusa.

The newbie tournament will be held in the fall. But Yusa and Yokokawa will participate in the national one instead of it, which gives opportunities to other members. It's certain that the twins have secured one of the two spots. Sakaki and Ryo set a goal of grabbing the remaining one. They practice hard, but it's not as smooth as expected. They have their wings clipped because of poor cooperation.

The training camp ends. Ryo and his mates go to Akira's home for a barbecue party. Later, they go to see fireworks with Ayumi and her friends. Ryo and Sakaki get lost with the others at the market. Now they're alone. Ryo summons the courage to ask Sakaki what he mentioned sometimes: dissolving their doubles team. Ryo wants to know what Sakaki is really thinking, and Sakaki replies honestly.

The newbie tournament starts. Ryo is going up against Matsuda in the singles finals. Ebihara advises them to consider each other's strengths and weaknesses when they play. The match begins. Ryo is more persistent, but Matsuda's skill is stronger than Ryo can handle. Ryo begins to be anxious about the widening gap. Unable to find an opportunity to fight back, Ryo feels increasingly cornered.

Ryo's long-awaited match against Shizuo finally begins. As Ebihara taught him, Ryo attacks Shizuo who is injured. Shizuo plays well as usual, but suddenly he falls. Ryo begins to waver, but Ebihara still wants him to continue the attack. Ryo tries to do what Ebihara asks, but he's apparently stressed out. When the match resumes, Ryo makes a mistake that he shouldn't have made.

There are new faces on the team. Middle school students who will attend Yokohama Minato High School next year participate in the team practice. Hana is the manager of the team now. Eager to show off to Hana, Sakaki and others play too hard during practice with middle school student Shiba. Shiba is disobedient. Despite his skill, he is uncooperative. The discord gives Ryo a headache. Also...

Spring comes and Ryo is a sophomore. His class is selecting class officers, but nobody wants to be responsible for the burdensome organization of activities. Ryo volunteers to take this job. His first task is to hold a class party, but his classmates are unenthusiastic. Ryo is troubled but he wants to make it a success. Meanwhile, Yokokawa is in trouble too. Something happened to the team.

Ranking matches for the prefectural tryouts will be held again. As usual, it involves the entire team. On the day of the matches, Ryo and his mates eat pork chops for good luck to cheer themselves up. Later, when Ryo and Matsuda are returning to their classroom, they overhear the seniors' complaint about their goal of being at the top in the matches. Ryo ignores it, but Matsuda doesn't look happy.

The prefectural tryouts begin. Yokohama Minato's players qualify. But in the quarterfinals, Matsuda loses to Hojo High School's Okazaki who is in high spirits. This is Okazaki's last year playing against Yusa. His firm eyes make him look like a beast pursuing its prey. Matsuda places the dream in Ryo's hands as he'll meet Okazaki in the semifinals. Ryo tries to ignore Okazaki's provocation, but...

When Ryo ponders what he lacks, the doubles final between Yusa, Yokokawa and the twins begins. Sakaki and his fellows hope for an upset by the spirited twins, but Ryo just coldly watches, thinking they are no match for Yusa and Yokokawa who are veterans of competition. Ryo recalls how terrifying Yusa was and shakes uncontrollably. When he recovers himself, he finds the twins are leading!

With only a month to go before the Inter-High, Ryo begins to panic. He thinks he has to find what he lacks if he wants to beat Yusa. However, his obsession has made him neglect his companions and annoying. The manager Hana works up the courage to give him some advice on his selfish behavior, but Ryo refuses to listen. After Ebihara knows about it, Ryo is suspended from practice.

Summer vacation starts. The team flies to Okinawa where the Inter-High is held. On the plane, Yusa recalls what he has gone through to reach this moment: his first practice at Yokohama Minato, his encounter with Yokokawa and Misaki Shogo. It's said that Misaki went to a school outside Kanagawa to get away from Yusa. The plane arrives at Naha Airport where Yusa runs into Misaki Shogo unexpectedly.

The Inter-High finally begins! Yokohama Minato qualifies for the semifinals smoothly. But Ryo almost cracks under the stress. With the help of other members, he overcomes it. The semifinals begin. Their opponent is Hirayama. Misaki is eager to fight with Yusa to get past his past defeat. But he doesn't get what he wants. His opponent is Ryo. Facing Misaki's passion, Ryo puts all his skills!

The team event finals begin. Their opponent is Saitama Futaba. Yusa and Yokokawa and the twins' doubles matches as well as Ryo's singles match begin simultaneously. At school, Isshiki and other students are watching the live stream, together with the twins' mother and Ryo's parents. Hongo is also watching in front of the screen excitedly. The team is determined to win the champions this year!

Yokohama Minato wins the world champion. That night, they hold a celebration. When it is in full swing, Matsuda who contributed the most but fainted from heatstroke after the match comes. They're happy about his recovery, and all the members celebrate together. The individual doubles start the next day. Yusa is going to win three in a row. Ryo tells his family the news, but Rika doesn't respond.

The final is on. Yusa takes the offensive at the start, apparently wanting to end the game quickly. He must still be tired from the doubles final. So Ryo decides to run Yusa around to exhaust him. After a shot, Ryo finds that there's something wrong with Yusa's movements. It is not an ordinary mistake. Yusa is protecting his right leg. Ryo is determined to win and starts attacking Yusa's weakness!
