In an isolated village in the stunning North Devon countryside, a young stranger arrives to play the role of Jesus in a Passion Play. Ellie, a local woman, falls in love with him, and before long a passionate affair begins. Small-town gossip and infidelity threaten to shatter the short-lived happiness the couple have found. But what will the day of the performance bring for the lovers?
