The Exhibit: Finding the Next Great Artist

Seven artists tackle their first commission, to create a piece about gender.

In this episode of The Exhibit, the artists explore the theme of Social Media, and create artworks that reflect on the topic with both humor and seriousness. Guest judges include Samuel Hoi, president of MICA, and digital strategist JiaJia Fei.

The artists go on an emotional journey when they must create an artwork inspired by how they survived or thrived during the global pandemic. The artists reflect on their experiences of grief, loss, family and joy in the most personal commission yet.

The words "liberty and justice for all" are burned into the American psyche. But what does justice mean to us today? From animal rights to civil rights, the artists must showcase a profound injustice through their art in this commission.

In the penultimate episode of The Exhibit, the artists take a look back at their past works for inspiration to create new pieces that explore their ideas and hopes about the future.

In the series finale, the artists have one last chance to impress the judges with a self portrait. Then, three finalists are chosen to showcase their work at the Hirshhorn Ball, but only one will win the exhibit of a lifetime and $100,000.
