Moiraine says she has come to the Two Rivers in search of the one who will save or destroy the world — but ask of her intentions and you’ll be met with cold stares and heavy silence. Aes Sedai may never speak that which is not true, making her silence all the more concerning. Will she protect the Dragon Reborn, whomever they may be, or are her intentions more nefarious?
Innkeeper’s daughter, promised to Rand al’Thor, apprentice to Nynaeve... It all seems inconsequential in light of the possibilities that lay before Egwene. Could she truly be a powerful channeler, and perhaps even the Dragon Reborn? Whether or not what Moiraine suggests is true, it’s beginning to seem that Egwene is far more powerful — and more important — than she could have ever imagined.
Rand doesn’t trust Moiraine. Her veiled intentions, and the forces of evil that seem to follow her, make her a threat in his eyes. He is brash, impulsive, and impossibly stubborn, but he’s driven to protect those he loves. If he’s not the one Moiraine seeks, he will still do everything in his power to save them from whatever she has planned. But if he is, perhaps he has the power to protect them all.
Most see Mat as a witty, mischievous rogue — which he certainly is — but deep down, Mat fears he’s a bastard like his father; a drunk like his mother. If this Dragon Reborn business comes with responsibility, he’s not interested. But perhaps, whether or not he’s who Moiraine is looking for, it can be his ticket to a better life.
Perrin is a kind, gentle soul woven into a powerful and physically imposing form. He takes as much care in forming his words and actions as he would a fine blade on his forge. He strives to avoid inadvertently harming others — physically or emotionally — yet his anger, when provoked, is truly terrifying. Perrin has yet to unleash the full ferocity of his power, and he hopes to keep it that way.
Nynaeve’s stubborn nature and brash self-righteousness were necessary tools of the trade when she became the youngest Wisdom the Two Rivers had ever seen. And now it seems her inherent ability to Listen to the Wind and profound aptitude for healing may be mere glimpses of her true potential. She has no trust for Aes Sedai, but she will do what she must to find the others from the Two Rivers and keep them safe.
Lan is a man of honor, driven by duty. As Moiraine’s Warder, his commitment to her quest is unwavering. Were you somehow able to gain his trust, you would find his stoic face and propensity for silence mask an endearing depth and complexity of character. Still, it’s best not to let your guard down around him. After all, there are few things more formidable than an Aes Sedai and her Warder.
Golden rings shaped like a serpent biting its own tail. They are worn by the Aes Sedai, and the presence of one on a finger indicates to all that the wearer is a member of that sisterhood. The color of the ring's stone represents the wearer's Ajah.
Trollocs wield a variety of weapons, including spears and axes. Some have even been known to brandish bows and arrows. Trolloc weapons are coated with a deadly poison, and produce wounds that rarely heal by themselves.
These black-bladed swords, wielded by Fades, are forged at Thakan’dar. The final step in the forging of a blade involves the execution of a living human. Even small scratches from these tainted weapons usually prove to be lethal, unless the wound can be healed by an Aes Sedai.
A sparkling blue jeweled pendant hangs from the elegant chain worn by Moiraine Damodred. Is it simply ornamental, or does it serve some other purpose? With someone as secretive as Moiraine, one can never be certain.
An elegant sword that is as deadly as it is beautiful when wielded by its owner, Lan Mandragoran. Carried across his back in an elegant leather sheath.
Deep within the walls of Shadar Logoth, one might come across artifacts left behind by the long-dead people of Aridhol. As tempting as these relics may be, legend has it that these items are as contaminated by evil as the city itself. It's best to avoid the city altogether. But if you find yourself within its walls, take nothing with you.
The hammer is a blacksmith’s tool of creation, used to shape metal into desirable forms. Heavy and powerful, it is primarily used to create. The axe, on the other hand, is first and foremost a tool of destruction and violence.
An elegant weapon owned by Tam al’Thor, decorated with exquisite carvings of herons on the blade and sheath.
A colorful painted wagon, driven by two horses, that arrives in the Two Rivers every year just in time for Bel Tine. From here the peddler, Padan Fain, displays and sells his assorted wares, including lanterns, dried herbs, threads, brushes, and other trinkets.
A simple six-string guitar, but in the hands of the right gleeman, it can create wondrous music. Luckily its owner, Thom Merrilin, is one of the best, singing songs that can touch even the hardest of hearts.
Physical objects of varying sizes that can be used to focus the One Power in a variety of ways. The Oath Rod, upon which all Aes Sedai take the Three Oaths, uses the One Power to make the vows sworn upon it unbreakable. Others can act as doorways between places, or seem to have no function at all.
A powerful artifact, kept hidden and protected in the fortress of Fal Dara. It is said that when the horn is sounded, the greatest heroes of the age will be drawn to it to aid the Dragon in the Last Battle.
This jade carving of a seated man may be small, but it holds great power. If one channels into it, it will increase their power one hundred fold.
