A journalist studying a 5-month storm in Appalachia wakes up alone in the wilderness. Unable to start her car, she decides to trek back to civilization on foot, experiencing vivid visions of childhood trauma and connecting them to survivors' stories. Obsessed with these connections, she can't leave the woods, and finds herself in The Clearing.
