Pontarlier is a mountain town situated at an altitude of 837m in the heart of the Jura mountains. Capital of the Haut-Doubs, Pontarlier is the entrance to a very large protected natural area, where forests, lakes and green pastures, essential for the production of Mont d'Or and Comté cheese, are found side by side. Pontarlier is known worldwide thanks to the production of absinthe.
