Set in New York City, "Day Eight" unfolds amidst the shadows of the Statue of Liberty and the United Nations. Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) is unwillingly drawn back into the intense action after learning of a plot to assassinate determined Middle Eastern peace-keeping leader Omar Hassan (Anil Kapoor) as he negotiates international security with President Taylor (Cherry Jones) and new chief of staff Rob Weiss (Chris Diamantopoulos).
