A Good Season (English Subitled)

Andrea Masci unexpectedly returns home after ten years of absence to find the family wine business in a very different place. At the brink of bankruptcy, the Masci family must do everything in their power to keep the business afloat or they will have to sell. Andrea’s homecoming re-opens old wounds and stirs up new conflict with Sylvia, Andrea’s brothers widow with whom he shares a dark secret.

The Masci family’s troubles put Jacopo’s post as Mayor at risk. Andrea returns from Berlin with a large sum of money to help save the business, but the source of the funds remains a secret. Tensions grow between Andrea and Sylvia, who returns to live in the house she shared with her late husband. Even with the help of Andrea’s friend Guido, the problems for the Masci family are far from over.

As the matriarch of the family, Emma decides to change the course of the business even though Andrea is not on board. Andrea’s determination to fulfill his late brother’s dream to produce great wine still persists and he will go to great measures to keep that dream alive. Conflict in Jacopo’s immediate family grows as he discovers his daughter’s secret.

Andrea is questioned by a German policeman and arrested for fraud. Surprised and distraught, the Masci family does not understand their son’s predicament, but they still must pay the next installment of debt. Without Andrea, Emma decides they must sell the wine. The plan to sabotage Santangelo’s wine is finally put into action.

The time to sell the wine has come and Andrea may not be able to dissuade Emma this time. Lavinia brings unwelcome news to the family upon her return and Andrea finds himself involved in a complicated trap.

The Masci celebrate Andrea’s wine, but does it live up to Riccardo’s vision? Emma pushes Andrea to succeed but the family must face the difficult reality of the financial situation and the inevitable fate of the family business. Will the family be able to save Santangelo before it’s too late?
