Poirot and Hastings are holidaying in Cornwall when they meet the beautiful Miss Buckley of End House, who has three near-fatal accidents within a very short space of time. With only 32 hours to go before the conference is due to start, Poirot confounds the government by refusing to cross the channel. He pursues his investigation in England.
