Alex and the Music

The guitar is a stringed instrument. It is made up of an wooden box which is in the shape of an eight and has a circular hole in the middle, an arm called a fingerboard and six strings. The sound of the guitar is produced when you play the strings.

The violin is a stringed instrument. It is smaller than the guitar. The violin produces a melody when the bow is drawn across the strings. The violinist must rest it on his shoulder and hold it under his chin.

The xylophone is a percussion instrument. It is made of wooden bars of various lengths and ordered side by side. The xylophone sounds by striking the bars with two sticks called mallets. The sound produced is really funny and vivid.

The harp is one of the oldest instruments and is known to be the instrument of the Angels. It is a stringed instrument and has a lot of strings which the harpist plucks with his fingers to produce a sound.

The violoncello is a stringed instrument. It is made of wood and has four strings. The cellist holds it in an upright position and is rested on a metal spike called the end pin. The cello produces a sound when the bow is drawn across the strings.

The clarinet is a woodwind instrument. It is a wooden tube with holes and open metallic key work. The sound is produced when the clarinetist blows through the mouthpiece and the different notes are produced by covering the holes with the fingers.

The flute is a metallic tube with holes and metallic key work. The flautist makes the sound by placing the hole of the mouthpiece just under his bottom lip and blowing across it while pressing and releasing the keys to cover and uncover the holes.

The double bass is a stringed instrument with the lowest in pitch. The double bass player can play it while standing or sitting, by drawing a bow across the strings or by plucking the strings with the fingers....!!!

The Trombone is a brass instrument. It is a metallic bent tube and looks like an elephant trunk. It produces sound by blowing through a cup-shaped mouthpiece. The sound produced is beautiful and low which comes from the bell shaped end of the tube.

Alex comes across dancing musical notations, he soon joins them and goes on an magical adventure all while good music is being played. He later watches a drummer play and soon joins him in playing drums as well.

The pan flute is a woodwind instrument, which is made of many wooden pipes of different lengths and each one of them is tuned to a different note. The flautist makes the sound by placing the pipes against his lips and blowing over the edges.

The bassoon is a woodwind instrument, which is of two tubes that connect the bottom of the instrument. The bassoonist makes it sound by blowing into a double reed attached to the smaller tube and the sound comes out from the top of the bigger tube.

The tuba is the largest brass instrument and has the lowest sound. It is so large that the musicians sometimes carry it on their back. It is played by blowing through the mouthpiece and the sound comes out from an enormous bell at the opposite end.!!!!!

Timpani and Cymbals are percussion instruments. Timpani are large in size and have a round shape at the bottom. It makes a really low sound when it is struck with sticks. Cymbals are two metallic discs which make sound when struck against each other.

The recorder is a woodwind instrument. It is a flute made up of wood. It has one mouthpiece, a tube with finger holes and a small end tube for the lowest note. It produces the tune when the flautist blows through the mouthpiece.

The French horn is a brass instrument. It is a metallic tube bent like a hose that begins thin at the mouthpiece and ends in a large bell from where the sound comes out. A sound is produced when the player blows through the mouthpiece.

The accordion is a wind instrument. It is made of two wooden boxes separated by bellows with air inside. The accordion produces a sound when the boxes are moved inwards and outwards and the keys or buttons are pressed.

The Banjo is made of a circular metal box and has an arm which generally has four strings stretched across it. The top part of the metal box is covered with skin and is open at the back. The sound is produced by plucking the strings with the fingers.

The Harmonica is a small wind instrument, which can vary in size. The bigger it is, the more notes can be played. It is made up of many brass reeds and each one plays a different note. A sound is produced by blowing and sucking through the reeds.

The electric guitar is a stringed instrument. It is made of a wooden body, an arm called a fingerboard and six strings. The electric guitar can produce really strong sounds. The guitarist connects his guitar to an amplifier and plays the strings.
